Central Bank Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is allegedly working in concert with the Department of Developmental Control of the Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA, to evict tenants at a property he acquired in October for N1 Billion.
Sanusi is said to have acquired the property at No 2 Missouri Street, off Colorado Street, Maitama Abuja to be used as a Garden. The CBN Governor lives at No 1 Missouri Street.
Pointblanknews.com was informed that the CBN Governor with the backing of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Mohammed, has directed officials of the FCDA to pull down houses on the property currently being occupied by the tenants to make for the commencement of the Garden to be called “Hanging Garden of Babylon.”
Sanusi has vehemently refused to grant the tenants time or refunded rents paid up fronts, a source told pointblanknews.com.
Sources told us that the tenants, mostly young people who have paid up front rents could not get a refund from the previous landlord and the CBN Governor has equally refused any extension of time for the stranded tenants.
“We have pleaded with them to give us time. We have pleaded with our former landlord, we even ask the new owner to give us time to look for another place but none of them would want to listen to our plea. As we speak now, our houses will be pulled down by the FCDA anytime from now.” One of the stranded tenants told Pointblanknews.com.
The tenants who did want to be named disclosed, “although some of the tenants have vacated the property out of fear but others who do not have anywhere to go or funds to get another apartment have remained to see if we will be shown mercy.”
Some of the tenants who spoke to Pointblanknews.com on condition of anonymity have threatened to drag the CBN Governor to Court.
